My name is Chereta Quána Madison. I go by Quána (key-on-na). I am currently a 2nd year PhD student in the School of Education at University of Colorado Boulder. My program area is education foundations, policies and practices. My research interests included refugee education advocacy in the US, leadership studies, qualitative research methods and community-based research/participatory action research and youth participatory action research.
I have teaching experiences in New York City public schools in Brooklyn and international schools in Shanghai, China. I also have education management and cross-cultural leadership experiences. During my tenure working for a bicultural education foundation in Shanghai, I had experiences using internal program evaluations as part of an explicit learning/goal-setting culture.
Fun Facts: I love raw juicing, surfing, walls full of post-it notes with affirmations, my maine coon kitten and was a distinguished guest on the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier this past summer for a few days. I also danced with Chuck Berry when I was a teenager on stage during a concert. He told me I danced like a butterfly.
