I will post wish project first. Followed by another post on my current project (beginning in the spring).
If I had one #connectedlearning dream research project it would be to reach out and do work with Gear Up, Gaining Early Awareness an Readiness for Undergraduate Program. It is a program in the US to help many students become first generation college students.
I am in my third year as a literacy coordinator four our #GearUp grant. Gear Up is truly transformational work. Everytime I am at a Gear Up event I feel they speak the same language as connected learning but that we speak different tongues.
I feel the community is ripe for an infusion of production centered work focused on agency and equality. Furthermore the last funding round gave points to proposals that work in priority zones ( a US government terms for lower SES neighborhoods that need development).
Anyone doing #connectedlearning research would not be as beholden to the curricular structures of K-12 but still connected to the schools.
So as we start thinking about applying for the 2017-2018 funding cycle I want to make #connectedlearning front and center. It would be awesome to connect #GearUp scholars from across the country using the POSSE approach of Connected Courses.
