I would like to learn more about actual experiences with evaluations. I have not done a large-scale evaluation, but I have done smaller ones with student-organizations that I was a part of. So far, I have taken courses that touched on the purpose and the basic concepts of evaluation as a method. I am a public health grad student, and much of my eval knowledge comes with a health-system context.
However, I have not been satisfied by textbook definitions which frame evaluations in a vacuum. Rather, I want to see evaluations in action, where researchers describe the daily motions and the interpersonal interactions that come with conducting an evaluation. I want to better understand how and why evaluators make adaptive decisions. As I interpreted from the webinar, evaluations follow the best practice of forming itself through the context of the project and its stakeholders, rather than a standardized form.
Overall, I am excited for this course, and I hope to use it to complement my current studies.
